Preparing for In-Person Worship

The Promise Church will begin in-person worship on Sunday, March 7. You will have the option to continue participating online or attending in-person.

Here are The Promise Church Covid protocols:

  1. Please stay home if you are sick or have symptoms that include fever, cough, sore throat, congestion, or shortness of breath. Even if you think you will be fine, think of the others who are in the higher risk categories. You can watch worship online on Facebook Live. If you “comment” saying you are watching, we will count your attendance. Please take good care of yourself. We want and need you well.

  2. Maintain hand hygiene. It is very important that everyone wash his or her hands diligently. Wash your hands while reciting the Lord’s Prayer; that’s how long we should wash our hands. We know that washing our hands is best practice. The better practice is the use of hand sanitizer (60% alcohol-based). We have stations of hand sanitizer all over the church. Please use them often.

  3. We will be screening everyone’s temperature upon arrival at The Promise. If your temperature is elevated 100 degrees or beyond, we would ask that you please attend worship virtually. Again, please take really good care of yourself. We want and need you well. You matter to us.

  4. Our Promise café will be closed for the foreseeable future. Please bring your own coffee (beverage) from home to enjoy during worship just like usual. You can even bring snacks to share with your own family. Children will be staying in the service with their families.

  5. Meet and greet safely. Well, this is a tough one for us. We need to refrain from hugging, kissing, shaking hands, etc., for the time being. We can wave, bump ankles, bow, air hug, etc. When it is safe, I will personally be hugging every single person.

  6. Social distancing of six feet. Gathering space with a “buffer zone” of the social distance of six feet between one another that has become our new normal. While this may be a little more of a challenge, it is possible to stagger us in the sanctuary in household or quaran-teams pods. We may not be able to sit in our favorite spot, but we can limit risk by spreading out a little more.

  7. We will be wearing masks while indoors. If you have not picked up your Promise mask, we will have one for you. We also have disposable masks. Because we are trying to lower the amount of spit droplets, we also will not have congregational singing. I invite us to worship God with our hands, feet, faces, hearts, and mostly our whole spirits. Holy Humming and dancing are totally allowable.

  8. Cleaning staff. Rest assured that our cleaning staff will increase their efforts for our safety.
